For spectators, the best places to view the Maui Marathon are as follows;
Honoapiilani Hwy from milepost 11 which is at the base of the Pali (ocean cliffs) on the Lahaina side, North all the way to Front St. There are several aid stations along the way beginning at the half-way point. Our enthusiastic aid stations will welcome your temporary assistance should you care to help out. There are aid stations at mile 13.2, 14.7, 16.2, 17.6, 18.8, 19.6 and 20.8, all along the shoulder of the highway. You are welcome at any of the areas and there should be ample parking available close to all of the aid stations. Please park on the makai (ocean) side of the highway clear of the aid stations. Use extreme caution when parking, as you will need to cross the path of the runners.
Front Street is an excellent place to watch the race as well, however it is closed to vehicular traffic. We recommend you park in one of the public parking areas off of either Shaw Street, Lahainaluna or Papalua Street. All three of these roads are accessible from the highway. Park your vehicle and proceed on foot to Front Street. Anywhere along Front Street is good but the best viewing is from Shaw Street north to Papalua. While there stop in one of the many restaurants along the way and watch the race in comfort while enjoying a mai tai!
The best and most exciting viewing is at the finish line in Kaanapali Resort. Parking will be limited but you won't want to miss the action at the finish line. The first runners will cross the finish line about 7:15 am with the majority of the runners from 9:00-10:30am. The finish line will begin closing down at 1:00 pm. Join us at Whalers Village for great local entertainment along with the festivities!
