Hot off the presses! Runner's World Magazine was hot on the trail for "Half Dozen Hot Halfs" for its July issue and named the Maui Half Marathon as one of the world's hottest (meaning great, not the temperature!). The article lists six half marathons from around the world and concludes the following about the Maui Half: "Well, if you are going to travel to a half, you might as well follow it up with a week in Hawaii." We agree!

For the first time, the Maui Marathon is offering personalized online coaching to help participants prepare for this year's full and half marathon events. For as little as $7.50 per week, runners can get a personal coach to design a training plan for them that will assist them in achieving their goals and help them stay motivated along the way. We have recently revised our charity section to include programs at both the local and national level. For many years the Maui Marathon has supported dozens of charities and has helped raised a lot of money at both the local and national level.

Justgiving.com helps participants raise more money with less hassle. Participants set up their own online Personal Fundraising Page where they tell their story and describe their passion for fundraising with their own pictures and text. They invite their family, friends and colleagues to visit their page and support them by making a secure online donation. All monies raised will be divided among all the Maui Marathon charities listed. Justgiving provides email based support for donors and fundraisers in case you or your supporters have any questions. It is never to early to prepare for a marathon or a half marathon and given that race weekend is now only three months away, it's time to start training seriously. This is especially true if the event is your first marathon or half marathon. We encourage you to visit the Cool Running training pages, have a look at the training schedules for both the marathon and half marathon and determine which of the four levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced and competitive) in each event best suits you.

In addition we have a limited number of 2004 "In Training" Tees left for purchase. The unique design will help to encourage you on those long training runs. The shirt is still available in small and large only. They are $18 each, plus $5 S&H for a total of $23 if mailed to any address within the US.
